On 4 September 2025, the first annual Taxonomy Haiku Contest was held in Dr. Gilbert's Animal Biology class. The prompt was to write a haiku about a species whose scientific name had changed. A shadowy panel of experts selected a haiku by Bryson Kunkel and Reagan Stracke (shown below) as the winning entry. Congratulations, Bryson & Reagan!
